There are several concepts that are used in AutoCAD and which may help to understand the architecture and information flow of a drawing file.

AutoCAD uses two types of units:
CAD units are non-display units, which are an integral part of the drawing file and are not affected by changes in display units or properties of display units. The units used by the application can be set to CAD units or can be set to a user-defined units in which case the CAD units will be computed from the current display units.
Display units are a visual representation of CAD units. The display units are specified in the drawing properties and are used when you change the display properties such as scale. To illustrate, when you change the scale in a drawing, the units and the gridline spacing will change. The default units for AutoCAD are points and Inches.

The following table shows the CAD units for a default AutoCAD file, using the default units and size:

AutoCAD supports a number of units including:

The following table shows the display units for a default AutoCAD file:

Grid is defined by the user settings. The default is using points. However, there are a number of other possibilities. If there are no grid lines in the drawing, grid lines are displayed for each layer using a spacing of.

Lines in AutoCAD are drawn in user units of measurement. These units are based on the unit of measurement defined by the user.

Tags in AutoCAD are used to mark information about the drawing, such as what has been modeled, what must be modified, what has not been modeled, what has been imported or exported, or what should be displayed in a particular drawing.

Each tag that has been added to a drawing is displayed as a colored name in the Tags palette.

Tags can be used to apply automatic properties such as color, line width, etc. A tag may have a value of None (gray), Boolean (green), Integer (yellow), Float (blue), or DateTime (purple).

In addition to colors, tags can have Boolean values. The Boolean values are True (green) and False (red).

Each tag contains some information about the object being tagged. A tag may be set to create a block or line object, such as the table block, column block, line block, picture block, etc. A tag

After a frustrating round of negotiations, talks between Team Penske and Andretti Autosport broke down, with the two sides in separate rooms in midtown Manhattan. Penske requested and was granted permission to conduct a non-negotiable discussion with IndyCar president of competition and operations Derrick Walker, as was requested by Andretti in order to agree upon a date for IndyCar to be part of its season schedule.

« We haven’t had any further communication with Andretti, » Walker said. « We have not been able to get back to them. »

IndyCar will not be in action until the first week of May, as the IndyCar Series has been moved from Labor Day weekend to the first weekend of May due to construction on the streets of New York for the annual Central Park and 60th Street Running of the New York City Marathon.

The deal that was on the table was for Andretti to be an anchor race for Team Penske in 2017 and to be in IndyCar’s lineup for at least seven races. Team Penske’s 2017 schedule has already been established, with the Sonoma race on June 11 marking the first of seven races the team will compete in.

However, Team Penske has publicly announced that it has long-term plans to run its full program of 17 races in the IZOD IndyCar Series, plus a doubleheader at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

« We’re going to run our full schedule in 2017, and what we want to do is make sure that we’re in the best position to be successful and to look at opportunities to add to that, » said Roger Penske. « We’re going to look at our full schedule to make sure we’re in the best position to run that program. »

Andretti CEO Mark Miles told Autoweek on Monday that he had not yet considered ways to supplement the Andretti team’s schedule in 2017.

Miles and Penske have been at odds for months, with each party believing the other was in violation of contractual obligations.

When asked about the developments surrounding the dispute and what it could mean for IndyCar, Walker told Autoweek that the governing body is comfortable with the way things are now.

« What we need to do as a sport is to figure out a way to make sure the series can support the race teams with the sponsorship dollars and the equity dollars and the other opportunities that there are out there for the race teams and the race promoters, » Walker
