Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

Flexible engineering workflows
AutoCAD offers a number of software applications used to support engineering workflows. Although AutoCAD is primarily a CAD application, it includes a variety of 2D and 3D tools used in designing, drafting, and creating concepts. Its ability to import and integrate data into an overall 3D model makes it an important part of the overall design process.
New AutoCAD extensions are continually being developed and released to address emerging engineering workflows. The ability to work in a team environment and the constant stream of new features mean AutoCAD is a tool that keeps pace with user needs.
AutoCAD can do it all. There are many 3D modeling applications for AutoCAD. The object library is a 3D model database that allows you to access 3D objects and their properties within AutoCAD. There are also more and more add-ons being designed to extend AutoCAD’s capabilities.
Planar surfaces, which are basically geometric surfaces that are flat or in the same plane, are usually created by using the PLANESURFACE command. The CIRCLE command is used to draw a circle. These two commands, plus the existing RECTANGLE command, are the commands used to create a basic planar surface.
A SURFACE command is used to create a geometry that has a geometric surface. This command can be used to create a free-form surface that is not necessarily planar. The primary difference between a SURFACE and a PLANESURFACE command is that a SURFACE command can create any kind of surface. A SURFACE command does not need to be used to create a planar surface. A SURFACE command can also be used to define an area that is out of the plane, like a part of a structure that is on a hill or to make a shape look as if it were in a different plane.
You can use the GRID command to set a coordinate system. The GRID command gives you many options to control the dimensions of the grid. It can be preset at any scale, and the grid lines can be placed anywhere.
The GRID command’s settings are saved with the

Do I need to buy a new switch if I do a drywall project?
I need to run new wire from my garage to the bathroom. The current switch we have only controls the lights in the garage and is not in the bathroom. I would like to replace it with a toggle switch. This will require using the wire that is already in the bathroom. Do I need to buy a new switch? Or can I just connect the two existing wires?
I’m assuming you are talking about a switch used for lighting control, right? If so, then you don’t need a whole new switch to switch a light in a different location.
All you need is a wire nut, some wire and you can easily tap it into the existing switch. If you have a junction box, you can tap into that, or if you have a drywall box, you can tap into that.
If you want to replace the box or switch, it may not be a problem if you don’t want the light in the bathroom to be controlled by the switch in the garage. If it is important to you, you might want to look into switching out the outlet that you can tap into. There is no real downside to that, unless you’re going to remove the fixture and replace it with a different one.
The existing switch will have one white wire that is the switched hot (sometimes red, green or yellow).
The other white wire is the neutral.
If you tap the white hot wire into the existing switch, the neutral wire will be unused. The switch will turn the light on/off by way of the hot wire.
If you don’t have an existing neutral, you would have to do a splice at the wall box.
If you have an existing neutral, you should be able to leave the neutral wire in place and replace the switch.
This is a good opportunity to take down the wall.
Remove the existing switch
Extend the wire from the switch box to the other location (using a wire nut)
Use the existing hole in the wall
